CERVIRON IN THE RESTORATION OF THE VAGINAL PH
Over 50 types of bacteria constitute the vaginal flora. Lactobacilli are the most common, especially in healthy women. For reasons that are not entirely clear, the microbiota can change rapidly, leading to infection.
If the balance of bacteria is disturbed, this can lead to infection and inflammation. Bacteria called lactobacilli help maintain the pH balance of the vagina at its normal low level (below pH 4.5), which also prevents the growth of other organisms. If the pH of the vagina increases (becomes less acidic), the quality or quantity of lactobacilli can decrease and other bacteria can multiply uncontrollably. This can lead to infections such as bacterial vaginosis, which can cause symptoms such as itching, irritation and abnormal discharge.
With regard to diet, research on the intestinal microbiome has demonstrated that eating habits play an important role in the balance of the function and disposition of the bacterial community. Nutritional intake of fats and uncontrolled glycemic load lead to progressive and persistent bacterial vaginosis. Through the pro-inflammatory effect described above, they contribute to the pathogenesis of obesity, metabolic diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, and, last but not least, the onset of neoplasms.
CERVIRON® restores vaginal pH, alleviates vaginal inflammation, improves the appearance of vaginal secretions and reduces bacterial overgrowth after 3 months of treatment.
