Cervical erosion can be caused by changes in vaginal pH and trauma. It is an inflammation of the cells of the cervix, which occurs when the squamous cells in the opening of the urinary tract turn into columnar cells. This causes irritation, redness and inflammation and is sometimes indistinguishable from early cervical cancer. Cervical erosion or "neck wound"
Cervical erosion or “neck wound” is a common cause of patient presentation in gynecology offices. In young people (in adolescence), most often this condition has no pathological substrate, being a simple ectopia (ectropion), the presence of the endocervical mucosa (inside the cervical canal) at the exocervical level (external, visible surface of the cervix).
This predisposes the patient to inflammation of the cervix due to a milder microbial infection (Chlamydia, Trichomatis, Neisseria, mycoplasma species, etc.) with the appearance of more abundant vaginal secretions.
